One of the less mentioned recruits in the Tigers’ class of 2009 is commit Kevin Minter (6-1, 235, 4.45).

Minter is one of the two linebackers that have given coach Les Miles their verbal and it appears Minter is honoring his pledge.

“I’ve been hearing a lot of stuff about my decision to go to LSU from some people around here, especially from the people at my school,” Minter claimed. “But I think they understand why I’m going to LSU. It’s a better program, with better coaches and players.”

Although the Peachtree Ridge High School product committed to LSU back in April, coach Miles has made it a point to make sure Minter understands his appreciation.

“Coach Miles called me Wednesday night,” Minter stated. “He was asking how I’ve been doing and he was telling me how excited they were about me coming to LSU.”

The soft-spoken Minter informed Miles he has not been doing so hot as of late due to a minor injury. Minter’s team will play in its first district game on Friday night and it will be Minters first battle in over three weeks.

“My team has been playing well,” Minter claimed. “We have our first region game tomorrow night. The team we’re playing will probably come out fighting because if they lose to us then they will probably not make the playoffs.

“I’ve been out the last three weeks because I pinched a nerve in my neck,” Minter added. “So this will be my first game back. I could have played like two weeks ago, but since we were playing sorry teams my coach thought it was best that I rest it until this week. It’s feeling good now and I’m back to one-hundred percent.”

After Minter wraps up his game on Friday night, his attention will shift to Saturday as his Tigers will travel to Florida to take on the Gators.

“I think LSU has done a real good job with what they got,” Minter explained. “I think the quarterback situation is kind of hurting them, but I’m just glad to be a Tiger. The season has gone as I expected it to go so far and hopefully we (LSU) can get another win this weekend.

“I think it will be a close game, but LSU will pull it off, “ Minter concluded. “LSU’s defense will keep them in the game.”
