After winning its first four games, this week the LSU Tigers football team will take in a much needed bye-week before it heads to Gainesville, Florida on October 11th to take on the Florida Gators.

The same cannot be said for LSU commit Kenny Bell (6′1, 170, 4.4) as his team will be facing arguably its biggest test of the year. Rayville High School is scheduled to take on the Bastrop Rams and Reuben Randle this Friday night.

Bell’s team is off to a good start, but the 5-star receiver understands every game is equaled to either one win or one loss, nothing more and nothing less.

“The season is going good so far,”Bell expressed. “We have a big game against Bastrop this Friday. I wouldn’t say we’re approaching this game differently any other game. It’s the same as always. We’re working hard.

“I don’t look at this game as a special game or anything,” Bell added. “They’re just like the rest of the teams we’re going to play this year. We’re excited to play them again because we came up short against them last season (42-36). I think we have a good shot at winning.”

Once Bell arrives at LSU it will not be long before he is looked at as a leader. Part of being a leader is keeping the team focused and prepared week-in and week-out. The highly-touted prospect is getting a taste of that now.

“Last week I had a big game,” Bell informed. “I think I had like seven catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns. I think I’ve been doing OK individually, but every week I try to keep my team’s head up and motivated.”

While Bell is busy keeping his teammates motivated, others have been doing their part to motivate Bell for this week’s showdown against Bastrop. It is no secret that Bell and Randle may be the two best receivers in the state and this could very well be a statement game for the both of them.

“I’ve received some phone calls from people telling me that Reuben is going to do this and he’s going to do that against us,” Bell claimed. “I just laugh and use it as motivation. They said he was going to make more plays than me.

“I’m not taking it personal,” Bell continued. “I’m just going to play my game and use what they said as motivation on the field.”

Once the game is over and the battle is finished, will Bell have any words for Randle. Perhaps a little persuasion to join him at LSU?

“No,” Bell concluded. “I’ll tell him good game and that’s it. I don’t know him like that.”
