Despite a weather change for the better Wednesday, the Tigers stayed largely indoors at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility.
During the sessions open to media. the team went through a cycle of four or five stations, most of them combining agility (quick-stepping over dummies, or running around an enlarged hula-hoop like the four-part series below) with hitting dummies. As this was the first practice with shoulder pads on, many of the players embraced the initial contact of the spring. Also, notice the picture below with graduate assistant and former Tiger offensive lineman Ben Wilkerson.
The setting shifted Thursday to the outdoor practice fields for more individual drills - broken down by position - before the groups merged and quarterbacks worked with receivers and running backs. Ditto for the defense as corners and safeties got together for ball drills.
Tiger Rag was there both days to bring you snapshots of all the action. This time around, after Maggie Bowles shot a great spread of photos at Monday’s spring opener, I went to the bullpen, swapping technology and letting my iPhone camera do all the work.
Amazing how much a phone can do these days. And while this isn’t an official promo for Apple, it’s certainly a smiling endorsement from a happy customer!
Nonetheless, enjoy and know that the professional work (and lens) of Maggie will be back for an upcoming practice in the near future.

What is Ben Wilkerson’s position at LSU? Is he part of the coaching staff or just a former Tiger helping his old team?
Gene,
Wilkerson is currently serving as a graduate assistant with LSU, primarily working with the offensive line.
Having just come back from practice (Saturday), I can tell you that offensive line coach Greg Studrawa leans on Wilkerson to put the group through drills at times.
