The LSU softball team took on a special project and showed appreciation to its fans by hand delivering over 50 season tickets during the last two days.

“Tiger softball is so very appreciative of our loyal fans,” head coach Yvette Girouard said. “Sometimes our ’spring sport’ is not so spring with its weather. We want to thank them personally for supporting us in every kind of weather. Our goal is to fill the stadium and have it be as intimidating a place to play as Death Valley is for our football program.”

The Tigers made 10 deliveries on Friday as Lauren Capello, Allison Falcon, Rachele Fico and Anissa Young joined the coaching staff to drop in on the ticketholders who work on the LSU campus.

Prior to Saturday’s scrimmage, LSU hit the road and made over 40 more stops all over the capital city. The Tigers also handed out autographed posters to their ticketholders.

“This team is determined to make a positive impact on the Baton Rouge community,” sophomore infielder Juliana Santos said. “We didn’t know what to expect, but this experience was something I’ll never forget. It was great to see the level of appreciation from our fans. Some fans were running out of their houses before we could even get out of the car. We can’t wait for our season to start.”

“It was extremely fun and exciting to get to visit with our fans today,” senior outfielder Rachel Mitchell said. “Personally thanking them for their support was something I’ll never forget. We are so blessed as a team to have the greatest fans in the world, and we had a blast thanking them in a very special way.”

LSU opens the 2010 season against No. 19 North Carolina, No. 21 DePaul and host Texas, a trio of 2009 NCAA Tournament squads, at the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational on February 12-14.

Season and individual game tickets are on-sale now and can be purchased online at www.LSUSports.net, the official Web site of LSU Athletics. Tickets also can be purchased in person at the ticket office on the first floor of the Athletics Administration Building or by calling (225) 578-2184 or (800) 960-8587.

Fans are encouraged to get their season tickets to guarantee great seats for LSU’s impressive home slate that features 16 games against 2009 NCAA Tournament teams highlighted by match-ups against Michigan and Georgia, a pair of Women’s College World Series squads.
