W. Va. scribe gives TR Radio some clarity on the mess in Morgantown

After being accused of asking a Pittsburgh journalist to ‘dig up dirt’ on coach-in-waiting Dana Holgorsen, how will Bill Stewart work hand-in-hand with Holgorsen in their only season together? (Photo courtesy WVU Sports Communications)

Blue & Gold News Editor Greg Hunter joined Jeff Palermo and Ben Love on Tiger Rag Radio Tuesday night.

The editor of the Morgantown, WV based publication brought the Louisiana area some perspective on the issues currently going on between West Virginia head football coach Bill Stewart and Offensive Coordinator/Head Coach-in-waiting Dana Holgorsen.

Holgorsen is set to take over as the Mountaineers’ head coach in 2012, but Stewart has been accused of asking a pair of reporters to ‘dig up dirt’ on Holgorsen.

After the coach-in-waiting was thrown out of a West Virginia casino, Hunter tells Tiger Rag Radio whether Holgorsen’s alcohol-related run-ins are a consistent problem or if they are greatly overblown.

Hunter also tackles this tough question: Who’s reputation is currently more muddied after recent events, and how will the two overcome these reports and work together this season?

Finally, Hunter takes us through West Virginia’s decision to begin selling beer at football games, and he gives us an peculiar reason for how Mountaineer brass thinks this could actually yield drunken acts of belligerence.
