Receiver becomes LSU’s third Breaux Bridge commit in 2012 class

According to TigerSportsDigest.com’s Shea Dixon, Breaux Bridge wide receiver Kavahra Holmes committed to the LSU football program on Tuesday.

Holmes, a 6-foot-1 and 175-pound speedster, was recently on campus both Sunday and Monday for the LSU Camp, where the prospect had the opportunity to show his stuff in front of the Tiger coaching staff.

On Tuesday, Dixon reports that the LSU coaches invited Holmes back to town and extended an offer to the receiver, one he quickly accepted.

There’s little question that Holmes’ defining attribute as a football player is speed. Just last month, Holmes took home the state title in the men’s 400 meters with a blistering time of 46.3 seconds, the best time in the nation.

Holmes joins fellow wide-out Travin Dural (6-2, 180) and outside linebacker Lamar Louis (6-0, 220) as Breaux Bridge teammates to commit to the Tigers’ Class of 2012.

He also becomes the third wide receiver in LSU’s ‘12 crop, alongside Dural and Blanche Ely (Fla.) standout Avery Johnson (6-2, 185), who became the Tigers’ first commitment in this class back in September.

In all, Holmes gives LSU 13 total commits thus far in the 2012 class.
