The day so many have waited for is finally here.
The 2011 NFL Draft begins tonight (7 p.m., ESPN and NFL Network), and who better to turn to for an LSU tilt than Draft analyst Mike Detillier.
Detillier, a good friend of the Tiger Rag Radio Show, dropped by the program again this week to dissect all the LSU players making the jump to the next level. In the 10-minute audio clip below, Detillier waxes on defenders Patrick Peterson, Drake Nevis and Kelvin Sheppard while also sharing insight into the draft stocks of offensive players Stevan Ridley and Terrence Toliver.
Listen in and hear Detillier describe why Peterson likely won’t be selected in the top two or three picks despite possessing arguably the most talent and upside in the entire Draft. Detillier also explains how special teams prowess is a major feather in the caps of Ridley and Sheppard.
All this and much more from Mike Detillier. Check out more of his fine work at www.saintsreport.com.

I do not understand how special teams would favor anyone more that a player so talented as Patrick…He is so good and so fast and QUICK, that he can successfully play any position after a little time and do it better than anyone else on the team, this kid can rrun a 4.2? forty!!! He could play QB and be better than most of the QBs in the country. He is about 225 lbs. He is faster, much quicker, and stronger than CAM NEWTON and I would tell you and I believe it would be fact, that he would be much better at QB than CAM will ever be, and I doubt that anyone has ever tried him at the position. I would not be afraid to play him at any position in the backfield , ends, or on defence, and I bet that he would do a better job than people that have been playing the positions for years, only because he is that good of an athlete… LSU did not play him where he could carry the ball a lot, I would have loved to have seen him in the Tailback, or fullback, yes even QB with his speed, quickness and weight he would punish people they would have a hard time even touching him…I doubt if we are ever going to see him at his best because the people who are getting him do not really know what a great player he really can be, CAM NEWTON is not even in the same reigon, time zone or world as PATRICK, or type of development that Patrick is capable of…If I was the OWNER of the ARIZ team, I would tell the coach I want to see what this kid can do on offence… I sure would like to see someone try to find out, they really do not know what they have by the tail!!! Patrick PETERSON is one of a kind, one in a generation, a lot like CANNON except CANNON was larger, stronger and maybe faster…Cannon was not handled corectly either!!! PETE was another, that was ruin3ed by the team that he went to play for…AILANTA was not the place for him!!!That is the way that it goes sometimes. maranatha!!! johnmulliniks@bellsouth.net
